Shri. Kalyanmal Sahu is a renowned traditional Pichwai Painter. He learned the skill of Pichwai painting from his Guru Kanhaiya Lal Yati and Shri VaishnavDas ji. Later he also learned the technique of Mughal miniature painting and Rajasthani painting. He was awarded by the National Award for his extraordinary contribution to Pichwai paiting.

Pichwai painting also known as “Pichvai” which is a traditional Indian Art having its origins in Rajasthan. Pichwai Art features intricate paintings portraying Lord Krishna (Shreenath Ji) which is done on fabric using dark rich hues. The paintings have deep religious roots and are executed with the utmost devotion by the artists. Subjects of Pichwai paintings are mostly depiction of Lord Krishna’s various Sevas (offerings) and different moods of Shreenathji.

Kalyanmal Sahu is doing his best for his beloved traditional Pichwai so that it does not disappear from the map of India.
